Trump's Focus Shouldn't Be On Weather, Moorestown Resident Says

The following letter to the editor was submitted by Moorestown resident Edwin Begg:

To the Editor:

President Trump is no weatherman, even though he and his administration say he is. As Hurricane Dorian was forming in the South Atlantic, Trump stated that Alabama would be hit. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Alabama immediately sent out a release saying that Alabama would be spared.

Since Trump is never wrong, there was a subsequent week’s flurry of activity to prove he was right, including marking up a NWS map with a Sharpie pen and an order from lackey Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross to higher-ups to throw the Alabama NWS under the bus or else they would be fired.

At the time, what did independent news sources say about the Alabama weather? Jason Simpson, the chief meteorologist at WHNT, the CBS Huntsville station said this: “Bone dry. It hasn’t rained in six days.”

To mess up the NWS is serious, since accurate, non-political weather forecasts are essential to all of us: hurricanes (when and where), farmer’s crop planting and harvesting, outdoor sports activities, vacation planning, road snow plowing, how to dress for the day and on and on.

Since the Alabama weather story is past, how can Trump occupy himself? How about thinking and doing something about global warming, healthcare, infrastructure, election system cybersecurity, economic inequality, drug addiction, gun control, international conflicts, trade, immigration problem solutions, taxes, deficits, and other issues important to each of us and to the rest of the world?
