Water Treatment, Strawbridge Lake Among Topics To Discuss at Moorestown Council Meeting
Council meets Monday night, 7 p.m.

Moorestown, NJ -- Moorestown Council will consider two proposed ordinances and three consent agenda resolutions concerning water treatment in the township when it meets on Monday night, 7 p.m. at town hall.
Council will hold a public hearing and final vote on a proposed ordinance to appropriate $380,000 and borrow $361,000 to buy equipment for the North Church Street Water Treatment Plant.
The ordinance was approved on introduction during the July 25 meeting.

It will also consider a proposed ordinance on introduction to appropriate an additional $7,175,000 to be used for upgrades to the Kings Highway Water Treatment Plant.
As part of its consent agenda, council will consider awarding a $318,514 contract to Eagle Construction Services, Inc. to install a Carbon Filter and Radium Removal System at the North Church Street Water Treatment Plant.

It will also consider awarding a contract to Water Remediation Technology LLC for the Rental of a Temporary Radium Removal System for Use at the North Church Street Water Treatment Plant.
This contract calls for Water Remediation Technology to provide process treatment (3 each 200gpm treatment trains), equipment and services as detailed in description, drawings and specifications and services for $363,637.
There is also a decommissioning fee of $100,300, which covers (packaging, transportation, licensed disposal and disposition paperwork.
Should the rental period exceed six months, there is an additional fee of $9,700 a month, should the township need to renew the contract.
It will also consider an emergency appropriation of $176,600 for the Acquisition and Installation of Temporary Radionuclides Removal System for the North Church Street Water Treatment Plant.
At the July 25 meeting, council approved a resolution rescinding a $198,850 contract previously awarded to Level-1 Construction to install the equipment at the plant because the proposed treatment didn’t address treatment for gross alpha, which NJDEP said was necessary as part of a recently approved Administrative Consent Order (ACO).
Council will also consider a proposed ordinance on introduction to appropriate $370,000 and borrow $180,500 for the construction of a dog park.
There will also be a public hearing on a resolution to use $30,000 in open space money for environmental improvements at Strawbridge Lake.

- Awarding a Contract to Arawak Paving Co., Inc. in the Amount of $1,113,600.00 for the 2016 Local Road Program;
- Awarding a Contract to Princeton Hydro, LLC in the Amount of $30,000.00 for Spatterdock Removal at Strawbridge Lake;
- Approving Contract Change Order No. 1 in the Amount of $41,700 for the Second Street Parking Lot Improvements;
- A Resolution Authorizing the Extension of the Tax Payment Grace Period for the 3rd Quarter from August 10, 2016 to August 26, 2016;
- Authorizing the Expenditure of $5,460.61 from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund for Consulting Services Related to the Development and Implementation of a Housing Plan for Moorestown Township Burlington County (Clark Caton Hintz); and
- Authorizing the Expenditure of $1,253.51 from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund for Consulting Services Related to the Development and Implementation of a Housing Plan for Moorestown Township Burlington County (Capehart & Scatchard).
