$1,700 Shoplifted From Morris Plains Grocery Store: Police

Two men attempting to flee were stopped by loss prevention officers, police said.

MORRIS PLAINS, NJ— Two men were arrested after allegedly shoplifting $1,700 worth of merchandise from a grocery store, Morris Plains Police said.

According to police, the two alleged shoplifters were spotted by the loss prevention officer, and held at the Littleton Road Stop & Shop until Morris Plains Police arrived. During the arrest, officers found the men had concealed $1,700 worth of merchandise.

A 51-year-old from Morristown and a 51-year-old from Parsippany were arrested. Both were charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, simple assault, shoplifting, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Their names were not released.

They were taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a bail hearing.
