Morristown High School’s Les Misérables Wins Three Foxy Awards

Morristown, NJ—Morristown High School Theatre took home three prizes at this year’s Theatre Night Awards, also known as the Foxy Awards, at Montclair State University recently. The MHS wins, all of which were for last spring’s production of Les Misérables, were for Outstanding Achievement by an Acting Ensemble in a Foundational Production of a Musical, Outstanding Achievement by a Student Lighting Technician for a Musical (to senior Allyson McLoughlin and junior Samantha Huster), and Outstanding Achievement by a Student Assistant Musical Director for a Musical (to seniors Sanjna Vel and Ryan Snyder).

The Foxy Awards, which go by calendar year rather than school year and thus considered MHS’s 2025 productions, nominated Morristown High School Theatre’s productions of Les Misérables and Little Women for a combined 25 awards, including Outstanding Production of Foundational Musical for Les Mis and Outstanding Production of a Foundational Play for Little Women.

MHS’s Les Misérables was well decorated during last year’s award’s season, as well, winning the BergenPAC High School Musical awards for Outstanding Overall Musical, Best Ensemble, Best Actor in a Male-Identified Supporting Role (senior Jackson Miler as Javert), and Best Musical Direction (David Gallagher). The MHS’s Les Misérables Pit Orchestra also won Outstanding Orchestra at last year’s Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards, while percussionist and then-senior Aidan Orbeta was honored with Paper Mill Playhouse’s Student Achievement award.

This spring’s production of Fiddler on the Roof was nominated for four Paper Mill Playhouse’s Rising Star Awards this year, including awards for Outstanding Performance by a Student Orchestra, Educational Impact (senior Abby Higgins), the “Theater for Everyone” Inclusion and Access Award, and the Student Achievement Award (for Technical Director Allyson McLoughlin), while senior Davnette McNamara was given an honorable mention for Outstanding Performance by a Featured Ensemble Member for her performance as Fruma-Sarah.
