Glocks Legally Owned by Man 'Acting Suspiciously' in Morristown Plaza

Andrew Pfitzenmayer was in the building for job-related purposes, report says.

The Somerset County man arrested July 29 at Morristown’s Headquarters Plaza for weapons possession legally owned the two Glock 9MM handguns he was carrying.

According to dailyrecord.com, Andrew Pfitzenmayer’s lawyer said he had three guns at one point, having sold one back to a dealer and legally owning the two found on him in Morristown.

Pfitzenmayer, 26, was arrested by Morristown Police after an unidentified person called 9-1-1 for a report of a man acting suspiciously. The Peapack-Gladstone man was located somewhere in the business area of the building and questioned by authorities.

Pfitzenmayer was lodged on $100,000 bail, which was posted late Monday. Despite a request by the prosecutor’s office for a psychological evaluation, Judge Stephen Taylor declined.

The decision brought confusion and anger from Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty, who held a press conference earlier this week to address the issue, and called on other mayors and legislators to change the mental evaluation process for anyone found with a firearm in a public place.

Pfitzenmayer’s mother formerly worked in the plaza, dailyrecord.com reported, and told the outlet her son was in the building for job-related purposes.

Pfitzenmayer is next scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 25.
