Infant Abandoned At Essex County YMCA; Cops Seek Teen Father

A N.J. teen wanted for child endangerment may be the same person who threatened to jump off a hotel ledge a day earlier, a report says.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Police are searching for the father of a five-month-old infant abandoned outside a Newark YMCA on Monday evening, authorities say.

According to the Newark Public Safety Department, the baby girl was discovered unattended but unharmed at the YMCA on Broad Street. Police managed to locate the child’s mother and notified Child Protection and Permanency workers about the incident.

Authorities are actively seeking the child’s father, Kelly Coran, 19, of Irvington, who is wanted for charges of Child Endangerment and a $2,000 outstanding Theft of Services warrant.

Police said that there may be a chance that Coran is the same person who threatened to jump off a ledge of the Robert Treat Hotel on Sunday, NBC Philadelphia reported.

Emergency responders transported the allegedly suicidal victim in that incident – also a 19-year-old male - to University Hospital for crisis observation, authorities said.
