N.J. Dump Truck Driver Owed $74K In Tolls and Fees: Port Authority
Port Authority police arrested the dump truck driver during rush hour at the Goethals Bridge Toll Plaza.

Port Authority police arrested a dump truck driver during the Wednesday rush hour at the Goethals Bridge Toll Plaza after learning that he allegedly owes more than $74,000 in tolls and associated fees, authorities say.
A Port Authority officer allegedly noticed a red 2017 Peterbilt commercial dump truck without any license plates enter an EZPass-only lane at the toll plaza, which connects Elizabeth to Staten Island, around 4:15 p.m., police said.
The officer pulled over the driver - Aaron Saguay-Gomez, of Queens, NY – and conducted a computer check. And that’s when he found that Saguay-Gomez owed $74,375 in tolls and fees for 712 alleged violations, police said.

Police impounded the vehicle – which is owned by a Newark trucking company – and charged Saguay-Gomez with obstructing government administration, petit larceny and a license plate violation.
Wednesday’s arrest at the Goethals Bridge Plaza hasn’t been the only high-profile toll-related arrest this year in the Port Authority of NY/NJ jurisdiction. Other recent bridge and tunnel arrests include a Roselle man who allegedly rigged his bike with a toll cheating device that raised and lowered a license plate with the flip of a switch, a Hoboken man who owed $37,000 in tolls and fees, and a trucker who allegedly used fishing line to cheat the tollbooth at the George Washington Bridge.
