Newark Brothers’ Alleged Murderer Arrested In California
San Jose police arrested a man suspected of murdering Quan Harmon, 20, and Quamir Harmon, 21, of Newark.

NEWARK, NJ — Police have arrested a 22-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting two Newark brothers in San Jose, California, authorities announced Monday.
Officers with the San Jose Police Department arrested Marquise Jones, 22, of Newark, at 10:45 p.m. on Saturday without incident, according to a joint news statement from Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert Laurino and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose.
Jones allegedly shot Quan Harmon, 20, and Quamir Harmon, 21, both of Newark, on the 900-block of Bergen Street in Newark on April 25, prosecutors said.

Emergency responders transported both men to University Hospital. Quan Harmon was pronounced dead at 10:12 p.m. Quamir Harmon was initially listed in critical condition and was pronounced dead at 12:25 a.m., police said.

A Newark municipal court judge approved an arrest warrant charging Jones with two counts of murder, attempted murder, unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Jones is currently being housed in the Santa Clara County Jail on Hedding Street in San Jose. He will be extradited back to New Jersey, prosecutors said Monday.
An active and ongoing investigation is being handled by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department.
