Newark Man Arrested, Left Infant Alone Near YMCA: Police
Newark police say the 20-year-old father left his child alone near the YMCA on Broad Street.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police arrested a local man and charged him with endangering the welfare of a child after authorities discovered an unattended infant outside the YMCA on Broad Street.
Newark authorities announced that officers arrested Coran L. Kelly, 20, of Newark, after he allegedly left his child alone outside near the YMCA’s parking lot on Feb. 6.
Authorities said that officers located the child’s mother soon after finding it alone. She allegedly told police that she left the infant with its father, Kelly, about an hour before getting their call.

Police arrested Kelly without incident around 6 p.m. on Feb. 7 after receiving information that he was at a store on Broad Street, authorities said.
Authorities originally identified Kelly as a 19-year-old from Irvington in a news release.
