On Night Before Class Starts, 2 Rutgers Students Assaulted

On the night before the first day of classes began, Tuesday, Sept. 4, two Rutgers students were assaulted in downtown New Brunswick.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — On the night before the first day of classes began, Tuesday, Sept. 4, two Rutgers students were assaulted late Monday night in downtown New Brunswick, police said.

The aggravated assault occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m. Sept. 4 on Easton Avenue near Courtland Street, police said.

The Rutgers students said they were physically assaulted following a verbal dispute with an unknown male, and they were injured badly enough to require being treated at a local hospital. There were no weapons used in this incident.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’8” tall, in his early twenties, having a stocky build, and wearing jean shorts with a white shirt, Rutgers campus police said.
