Nine new police officers joined the New Brunswick Police Department earlier this month.

Nine new police officers joined the New Brunswick Police Department earlier this month.

Officers Eric Martinez, Alexander Uzunis, Stewart Way, Kevin Sturmfels, Justin Meccia, Vincent Scasserra, Anthony Muldowney, Eddie Rodriguez and Ervin Gomez recently completed training at the Cape May County Police Academy.

Martinez and Muldowney are graduates of Rutgers University in New Brunswick.

Sturmfels and Rodriguez are graduates of the New Brunswick Health Science Technology High School.

Uzunis and Scasserra previously worked as New Jersey Department of Corrections officers.

Way was a Rutgers police community service officer.

Meccia had been a Class 1 Special officer in Point Pleasant.

Gomez was a New Brunswick auxiliary officer.
