Rutgers Punter Nick Marsh Named Ray Guy Award Nominee

Marsh has four punts over 50 yards this season, and placed 16 of his 36 inside the 20-yard line.

Rutgers punter Nick Marsh was named a nominee for the Ray Guy Award, the University announced Friday morning.

The Ray Guy Award is given to the player selected as the top punter in college football. Marsh, of Petamula, California, is a senior who transferred from the University of Utah.

He’s punted 36 times this season, with 16 falling inside the 20-yard line. Four of his punts have gone over 50 yards, with a long of 58 in the Oct. 10 game at Louisville. He’s averaged 40.2 yards per kick, and has forced 12 fair catches, according to the University.

Semifinalists for the award will be announced on Nov. 8. A group of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) sports information directors, coaches, media representatives and previous Ray Guy Award winners will narrow the field from 10 semifinalists to three finalists, to be announced Nov. 25.

The winner will be announced Dec. 12 as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 12. The show will air live at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN.

The award is named after Ray Guy, a former all-American at Southern Mississippi and all-pro with the Oakland Raiders.
