Security Guard Axed in New Brunswick High School Attack

Witnesses say the guard did not try to break up the assault.

New Brunswick, NJ - The security guard who reportedly watched as one student viciously beat another inside New Brunswick High School last week has been dismissed New Brunswick public schools confirmed to Patch Thursday.

Witnesses of the attack last Thursday say a guard standing nearby did nothing to stop the brutal assault, in which a 16-year-old boy was charged with assault after beating and kicking a 15-year-old boy. The victim suffered injuries to his nose, teeth, and upper torso. The violent assault was caught on video, and can be seen here.

"The security guard in question (is) no longer is with the school district," the school confirmed to Patch in an email.

Superintendent Aubrey Johnson made the news public at a New Brunswick school board meeting Tuesday night, which more than 100 people attended, reported New Brunswick Today. Many more protested Tuesay night outside the high school, saying the school did not take the attack seriously enough.
