South Brunswick Resident Named To Academic All-Big Ten

He is among the 91 Rutgers student-athletes named to the Spring 2015 Academic All-Big Ten list.

Some 91 student-athletes at Rutgers have been named to the Spring 2015 Academic All-Big Ten list.

In total, the Big Ten Conference named 196 Rutgers students-athletes to its list this year, including 75 who play fall sports and another 30 who participate in winter sports, according to a news release posted on the website of the school’s athletic department.

Women’s rowing had the highest number, with 16 of its team members making the list, followed by men’s lacrosse and men’s track and field, which each had 14 players on the list. There were another 13 players from the women’s lacrosse team, 10 student-athletes who participate in women’s track and field, nine baseball players, six softball players, four from the women’s tennis team, three from women’s golf and two from men’s golf.

First-year students are not eligible for the list. To be named to the list, students must be letter winners, with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

Among the spring sports honorees were several Middlesex County residents:

  • Thomas Perkowski, a criminal justice major from South Brunswick, who plays baseball
  • Emeke Eze, an economics major from Sayreville and Nicholas Price, a pre-business major from Old Bridge, who are both members of the men’s track and field team.
  • Kathleen Dennis, a Monroe resident, who is majoring in communication and human resources management, and Michelle Gao, of Plainsboro, a pre-business major. Both are on the women’s rowing team.
  • Jillian Grant, an Old Bridge resident, and journalism and media studies major, who is on the women’s track and field team.
