Winners Unveiled in Library Photography Contest
The top winners in the "New Brunswick in Motion" summer photography contest are on display in a public gallery at The Heldrich.
The winners in the New Brunswick Free Public Library's Summer Photography Contest are now on display for the community to see at the .
Librarian Kavita Pandey said that 80 submissions were received in the contest, which accepted submissions from March to May.
The first place winner, Araba Essien, captured her daughter, Alana in mid-flight on a swing in the photo "A Day in the Park".

Essien said that she did not have formal training in photography. She took one course on it in college, but enjoyed it so much that she came back to it.
Second place went to Michael Tublin with his photo "Blowing," which captures saxophonist Todd Bayshore in a performance.

Tublin is affiliated with the New Brunswick Jazz Project, and said that Bayshore does performances as part of the group's programming very often.
Last year, Tublin won first place in the annual contest with his photo "
Third place went to Cintli Luana Orozco for the photo "Ghost Train".
Honorable Mentions went to Bob Mulholland for the photo "Raceway of Lights," Sarah J. Lee for the photo "Kissing on the farm," and to Angel Escalante for the photo "Jewel of New Brunswick".
Additionally, the Popularity Award Winner, which is chosen by the library staff, went to Christina Olivos for the photo "Man's Best Friend".
The photo contest is funded through a state grant from the New Jersey Council on the Arts/Department of State, with the support of the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission, according to the library.
