Bachmann Resigns From Borough Council
Nomination for Superior Court heads to full State Senate for confirmation vote next week

New Milford Borough Council President Keith Bachmann has resigned from his position in advance of his confirmation as a judge on the state Superior Court.
Bachmann's nomination went before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday and the committee released his name for final confirmation by the full Senate. The vote is likely to take place next week.
Nominees are required to resign from elected office and from their positions in private law firms before accepting a judgeship.

Borough Republicans will be charged with finding a replacement for Bachmann until the November elections. Republicans will select three nominees that will go before the full council for review and final selection.
There will be a special election in November where borough residents will be able to elect someone to fill the remainder of Bachmann's term which runs through the end of 2012.
