Bergen County to Host Fair for Potential Home Buyers

Event to be held in Teaneck on Saturday

Bergen County is hosting a Home Ownership Fair on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Glenpointe Marriott in Teaneck.

County officials said the home ownership program was designed to help low and moderate income families "navigate the purchase of their first home."

“Purchasing a home is often seen as a complicated and confusing endeavor,” said Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan. “If you are interested in purchasing a home, I encourage you to attend our 13th Annual Home Ownership Fair. There are many helpful exhibits, workshops and lectures designed to help potential home buyers navigate the market and prepare for a purchase.”

Officials said the exhibits at the homeownership fair will include:

  • realtors
  • bankers
  • mortgage companies
  • credit counselors
  • home inspectors

Hands-on workshops will be held throughout the day, according to county officials, with subjects including:

  • “American Dream Program"
  • How to Deal with a Realtor
  • ABC’s on Closing on your Home
  • Getting Financially fit for Homeownership
  • Home Inspections
  • New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency
  • Fair Housing issues

“The entire homeownership process, from preparing paperwork to preserving your home’s value, is explained,” said Donovan. “Anyone who is interested in living in Bergen County should come to our event and learn about the numerous programs and opportunities available to homeowners.”
