Candidates File for New Milford Council Positions
Filing deadline was Monday for the June 7 primary

Monday was the deadline for candidates to file for the June 7, 2011 primary election. In New Milford, two three-year terms are up on the Borough Council this year.
Republicans Celeste S. Scavetta and Peter H. Rebsch filed their petitions to run in the June primary. Scavetta was appointed in January by the council to fill Mayor Ann Subrizi's unexpired council term. Rebsch was also nominated to fill Subrizi's position which ultimately went to Scavetta.
Democrats Frances Randi Duffie and Hedy Grant have also filed to run in the primary. Duffie is an incumbent and is currently the lone Democrat on the council. Grant, the current president of the New Milford Democratic Club, vice chair of the New Milford Planning Board and ran unsuccessfully for a council seat back in 2009. She sits on the Library Board of Trustees and is a former member of the Environmental and Energy Commission and the Historic Preservation Commission.
