Flood Watch Issued for Bergen County
The National Weather Service predicts three to four inches to fall by Wednesday evening
The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for Bergen County and surrounding areas shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Flooding is possible Tuesday through late Wednesday night, according to the NWS.
"A nearly stationary storm system over the Mid-Atlantic states will push a constant stream of moisture into the region through the middle of the week," the NWS said. "Total rainfall amounts will range between three and four inches of rainfall with locally higher amounts through Wednesday night."

The NWS said the rain could cause the flooding of small streams and creeks as well as "flood prone urban areas."
The NWS warned residents in flood prone areas to be "prepared to take action" should flooding develop.

Today: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Areas of fog before noon, then patchy fog after 5 pm. High near 61. East wind between 8 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Patchy fog. Low around 54. East wind between 11 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Wednesday: Periods of showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Areas of fog before noon. High near 65. East wind between 9 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
Wednesday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 57. East wind between 7 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Thursday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. East wind between 7 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Thursday Night: A chance of showers, mainly before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Friday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
