Need to Get Rid of An Old Computer or Some Tires?

The BCUA is hosting a county-wide recycling event for certain items on April 3

Do you have some personal documents that need to be shredded? Are there old, outdated and unused computers lying around your home that you need to get rid of? Have you changed the tires on your car and now the old ones are taking up valuable space in your garage?

The Bergen County Utilities Authority is hosting a special recycling event on Sunday April 3 for county residents free of charge. Proof of residency will be required to participate in this event.

The shredding will be for personal, confidential documents and residents will be able to observe their documents being shredded. There will be a four bag limit, according to the BCUA, and the bags cannot weigh more than 10 pounds each.

The documents could include old tax forms, credit card bills, banking information and more. Newspapers, magazines and books will not be accepted for shredding.

The BCUA will accept up to four tires per person and they will take tires with or without metal rims.

They will also be accepting "e-waste" including computers, electronics and more since residents are no longer able to include these items in their regular municipal garbage and recycling collections as of Jan. 1, 2011.

The event is being held at the Bergen County Community Services Building at 327 East Ridgewood Avenue in Paramus from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 3.
