Security Increased At New Milford Schools Following Threat
Additional police officers are patrolling the district's 4 campuses Thursday as a precaution, Superintendent Michael Polizzi said.

NEW MILFORD, NJ — Police officers are patrolling borough schools Thursday following a perceived threat against the district on social media.
Superintendent Michael Polizzi said in a message to parents Wednesday that district officials were alerted to a message posted on Snapchat that someone was planning to "shoot up" Dover and New Milford high schools.
An investigation revealed that the message was referring to Dover and New Milford Connecticut high schools.

However, as a precaution, Polizzi said, additional police officers will patrol the district's four campuses Thursday.
Polizzi notified parents and district personnel of the threat and investigation in an email Wednesday night at about 10:30 p.m.

"I apologize for the late call, but we wanted to give authorities the greatest chance to do their work before needlessly alarming parents and closing the district," Polizzi said.
