The New Milford Fire Department has been running a recruitment drive for new members and has recently had some success. Two new members were appointed to Fire Company No. 1 at the June 27 meeting of the Mayor and Council. Michael Saenz and Yakup Cankurt were both appointed as full members of the Fire Company No. 1. Matthew Piterski was also appointed as a junior member of the NMFD. Councilman Dominic Colucci, liaison to the NMFD, applauded the men for volunteering.  "I want to thank all of them for stepping up," said Colucci.
