NMPD: No Limit to Trash Items Being Collected

Items must be placed curbside; restrictions being lifted to aid homeowners with flood-related debris

Borough officials announced several measures that were being put into place to aid New Milford residents who have significant trash as a result of the post-Irene flooding.

NMPD Chief Frank Papapietro said twice a week trash pickup around New Milford will be extended for two weeks to include Friday Sept. 2, Tuesday Sept. 6, Friday Sept. 9 and Tuesday Sept. 13.

"There will be no limit to items being collected and all items placed curbside during the above dates will be collected," said Papapietro in an e-mail.

The regular collection schedule and limitations on what can be picked up will resume Sept. 16.

"After Sept. 16, removal of debris will be the homeowners responsibility," said Papapietro.

"Homeowners needing further assistance with debris removal after Sept. 16 should call Waste Management customer service at 800-717-3366," said Papapietro. "Special rates have been secured for New Milford residents."
