NMPD: Streets Reopen Around the Borough; Tips for Post-Flood Clean Up
NMPD Chief Frank Papapietro updated borough residents on Tuesday

NMPD Chief Frank Papapietro said on Tuesday that many borough streets had reopened following intensive flooding.
- Oradell Avenue, New Milford Avenue, River Edge Avenue and New Bridge Road are open
- Lenox Avenue, Washington Avenue, Pine Street and River Road are open
- Columbia Street is open with minor flooding still evident as is Harvard St.
- Holland Avenue is now clear
Papapietro said electricity had been restored "throughout most of the borough" by late Tuesday morning.
The NMPD was advising residents to take the following actions post-flooding:

- Contact you homeowner’s insurance immediately.
- Building Inspectors will be in the affected areas beginning today.
- Residents are advised before hiring contractors to insure that they are licensed contractors and that they can show proof of insurance.
- Be sure to get permits for all work. Permit fees are waived for storm related damages.
- FEMA teams will be in the area soon.
It was also announced on Tuesday that public schools in New Milford will open a day later due to flooding--Sept. 7 is the first day for students.
