Number of Minorities in the Borough Grows, Overall Population Remains Static
The number of white residents decreased while the Asian, Hispanic and Latino and Black populations all increased

The overall population of New Milford remained at nearly the same number from the 2000 Census to the 2010 Census, according to newly released data. The borough's population is still approximately 16,400 residents.
Ten years ago, nearly 13,000 residents identified themselves as white but the 2010 Census shows only 11,500 of the residents in the borough identified themselves as white. Slightly less than four percent of New Milford residents identified themselves as black or African-American in 2010, up from only two percent back in 2000. Nearly 14 percent of borough residents identified themselves as Hispanic or Latino in 2010, which was up from eight percent in 2000.
The number of Asians living in New Milford has increased since 2000. The overall Asian population increased by nearly five percent over the past 10 years from nearly 14 percent to more than 19 percent of the total population.
