Oritani Bank Grants YMCA of Greater Bergen County $15,000
Strong Kids Campaign Supports 7th Grade Membership Program

The OritaniBank Charitable Foundation, recently granted $15,000 to the YMCA of Greater Bergen County (YMCAGBC), a non-profit organization located in Hackensack, NJ. Its mission is to help people of all ages, male and female, develop a Christian way of life by the maintenance of facilities, activities and services that will contribute to their spiritual, mental, social and physical growth.
This years grant is in support of The Strong Kids 7th Grade program, which provides membership to an organized after school program to 7th grade students in the greater Hackensack area. This is an active and educational membership to promote a lifetime of healthy habits. Strong Kids members may use the facility in a supervised environment during the school year Monday through Friday from 3-7 pm.

“Program subsidy and financial membership assistance keeps the Y available for youth, teens and families who need us most,” said Glenn MacAfee, Interim CEO of the YMCA of Greater Bergen County. “We are thankful for the support of OritaniBank Charitable Foundation, with its continued commitment and loyalty, the Y is able to provide free memberships to 7th graders in Bergen County through the Strong Kids 7th Grade Program.”
It is believed youth that are positively involved in organizations at this vulnerable age have a greater chance to insure that they become responsible adults. In addition to the foundations grant, this program will be funded from the Y’s general campaign funds.
