Planning Board Approves Minor Subdivision of United Water Property

United Water met the "checklist" of criteria proving compliance with borough ordinances in the creation of the subdivision

The New Milford Planning Board voted unanimously to approve the application by United Water to create a minor subdivision of their property at Main Street and Madison Avenue.

The new lot, known as 1.01, will comprise 3.7 acres of land, according to representatives for United Water.

Planning Board Chairman Angelo DeCarlo recused himself from hearing the application.

"I must recuse myself from this application as a member of my family works for United Water and she has been involved in this property for many years and involved with the firm," said DeCarlo. He then turned the gavel over to Vice Chair Hedy Grant to run the hearing.

The board heard testimony from Tom Herten of the firm Archer and Greiner who were representing United Water. Ambrose Gmeiner, a surveyor with Johnson, Mirmiran and Thompson also gave testimony related to the property.

Herten said United Water had made the changes that the board requested after the April 26 hearing of the minor subdivision application. The key change was a revision of the plans to reflect that John D. Cecchino Drive is not a county road but is in fact is under the borough's jurisdiction.

Herten also said that within 190 days of the granting of the application, the four buildings and trailers currently in the "maintenance yard" area off Madison Avenue will be demolished and removed. Herten said all maintenance operations have since moved to the Haworth facility.
