Police Reportedly Patrolling Dumont HS Following Threat Monday
Breaking: A 15-year-old student was taken into custody Monday after he reportedly threatened to shoot up the school on social media.

Police officers were patrolling outside Dumont High School Tuesday, the day after a 15-year-old student was taken into custody for threatening to shoot up the school, according to reports.
The extra officers were in patrol cars outside the school and on foot inside the school, NJ.com reported. ABC7 reported that a SWAT team was at the school.
Superintendent Emanuele Triggiano said in the report that both students and teachers are "shook up," after what happened Tuesday and just "want to get back to normalcy."

That same student, who has a username of "emma," said that the fact that "this kid could have come to school and harmed my friends and teachers any day now. While Dumont High School is beyond fortunate that the police were able to stop him before that could happen, it just emphasizes the fact that we need gun control now."
The 15-year-old student made the threat on social media, which another student saw, NorthJersey.com reported. Dumont Police Chief Michael Conner said in the report that a gun was found at the student's home, according to the report.
The nature of the threat was not immediately clear, according to NBC4, nor was it clear if the threat was made from inside the school.
Police reportedly found a gun at the student's home. Daily Voice reported that the student did not bring the gun to school and that the boy's mother is cooperating with authorities.
