I earned a bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University’s Stillman School of Business and a master’s degree from Rutgers University School of Education.

In addition to my service on the New Providence Board of Education, I also serve on the Summit Area YMCA’s Human Resources Committee and New Providence Municipal Alliance.

Why are you running for the school board?

I think we have an obligation to give some of our time and resources to the communities where we live. I believe this service is best when the incumbent is engaged in an effort that is of an interest. Education has always been important to me and I have always been interested how we can improve how we educate our children.

What experience do you have that would help you serving on the school board?

I served on my hometown’s board of education where I grew up prior to moving to New Providence and for the past 12 years I have served our town’s board of education. I think my personal interest, along with my professional experience, and my service on two different boards of education makes me uniquely qualified to continue to serve.

What issues would you like to see addressed if elected?

During my tenure on New Providence Board of Education, we have been very successful in changing how we deliver the educational content using technology, this needs to continue. When we have identified areas where student's performance was lacking, we provided additional resources and realized an increase in student performance, this needs to be consistently monitored and supported. We have recently modified how we schedule classes which will increase the course offerings for high school students, this needs to be examined going forward and adjusted when appropriate. We have made changes in the school’s counseling department to increase their contact with colleges and universities, we need to continue to expand the efforts of this department. The issue of safety has constantly been an item of great concern and we have made appropriate changes to protect all of those in this educational community, this needs to be a priority going forward. Our efforts in consistently assessing our physical plant and making financially prudent changes have dramatically improved our buildings and grounds, and we need to be vigilant of these needs to ensure a safe and proper environment that supports the educational goals. These 6 topics are just some of those areas that we need to focus on going forward. We have a very committed workforce and a high performing student body. The Board of Education needs to maintain their balance between being fiscally prudent and providing the resources needed to ensure we meet the needs of this community to successfully continue to be a high performing district.
