OCEAN CITY, NJ — It was a great year for Ocean City as vacationers again flocked to the beaches after tourism struggled through the pandemic.

New businesses opened and there were plenty of great stories that came out of Ocean City in 2022. Patch rounded up some of the best as we look forward to another great year at the shore.

Ocean City remained king as the results of NJ Sea Grant Consortium's annual poll were revealed. "Every year, we face new challenges. But Ocean City remains the best beach in the state and a beloved place for generations of families," Mayor Jay Gillian said in a statement.

The Bogdan family escaped a house fire earlier this month with their dog. Though none of them were injured, the family lost everything. Megan Bogdan shared a letter with Patch to express her gratitude towards the community.

6th Accreditation For Ocean City Police Department

The Ocean City Police Department won accreditation for the sixth time, making it the first law enforcement agency in New Jersey to do so.

Citizen Of The Year Named In Ocean City, Businesses Awarded

The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce announced 2022's "Citizen of the Year." The Chamber also announced the winners of the Outstanding Business and Beautification awards. These will be presented on Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. at the Flanders Hotel.
