Ocean City Coronavirus Updates: Looking Into September

OCEAN CITY, NJ — There's a lot of news to keep up with right now — locally, nationally and worldwide. Here's a recap of coronavirus updates in Ocean City and Cape May County.

Cases

Here are Ocean City's coronavirus figures as of Tuesday afternoon, per the Cape May County Health Department. Figures in parenthesis represent information from Ocean City Patch's last update Sept. 2:

• resident active cases: six (three)
• community cases cleared off quarantine: 60 (59)
• community deaths: one (one)
• non-resident active cases: zero (three)
• longterm-care facility active cases: zero (zero)
• longterm-care facility cases cleared off quarantine: five (five)
• longterm-care facility deaths: two (two)

The CMCHD has logged the following county-wide figures as of Tuesday morning. Figures in parenthesis represent information from Sept. 2:

• resident active cases: 99 (62)
• community cases cleared off quarantine: 819 (794)
• community deaths: 28 (28)
• non-resident active cases: 19 (28)
• longterm-care facility active cases: nine (11)
• longterm-care facility cases cleared off quarantine: 171 (169)
• longterm-care facility deaths: 61 (60)

Recent Updates

• Summer isn't quite over yet in Ocean City. The weekly farmers market will run for another month, and several beaches will remain guarded through much of September. MORE.
• Ocean City canceled several events throughout spring and summer because of the coronavirus. But the city will hold its annual Sept. 11 ceremony. All are encouraged to attend and wear face coverings. Officials will set up chairs to maintain social distancing. MORE.
