Ocean City Woman Named Guardian Angel Of The Month At Shore Medical Center

Terri Horner is recognized for providing passionate and exceptional care to Shore's patients.

Ocean City, NJ -- A registered nurse from Ocean City has been recognized by Shore Medical Center as its October 2016 Guardian Angel of the Month. the medical center announced this week.

Lightkeeper’s Society Liaison Terri Horner is recognized for providing passionate and exceptional care to Shore’s patients.

Shore established the Guardian Angel Program to enable patients to say thank you to a special caregiver through a donation to Shore Medical Center.

Horner came to Shore in 1989 as an RN with the organization’s home care service. She later joined the Emergency Department’s Quick Care unit, where she remained until she retired.

In 2008, she left retirement to become a Lightkeeper’s Society Liaison. In her role, Horner assists members of Shore’s Lightkeeper’s Society when they are in need of assistance navigating the healthcare system.

Lightkeeper’s Society Manager Mary McGuckin says Horner’s allegiance to Shore Medical Center is unwavering.

“Terri is so kind and caring, and is a great asset to our team. She is willing to do whatever is needed to support Lightkeeper’s Society members as well as her teammates,” McGuckin said.

A family member of a patient Horner assisted recently wrote to Shore to thank her for her efforts.

“If it was not for Terri’s quick thinking, my mother’s rings would have had to be cut off. Not just any rings, but her precious wedding band and her mother’s engagement ring that are one-of-a-kind from London, dating back to the 1900s. Thank you, Terri, for preventing damage to rings of such precious and sentimental value,” the family member wrote.

Horner enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, ballroom dancing and traveling.

The Guardian Angel program recognizes anyone who works at Shore Medical Center and makes an impact and difference in a patient's care. Guardian Angels are recognized among their peers and are presented with a special Guardian Angel pin at Shore Medical Center’s annual pinning ceremony.
