Bergen County Students Enter Can-Struction Contest At American Dream To Feed The Hungry

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — The Bergen County Office of Food Security, in collaboration with American Dream, again hosted the Bergen County Canstruction contest last week.

Eight student-led teams built structures out of food. The cans were then donated to local food banks for hungry people and families.

This year's college teams came from Bergen Community College, Ramapo College of New Jersey, and the Bergen County Technical School District. High schools participating were Henry P. Becton Regional High School, Leonia High School, North Arlington High School, Paramus High School, and Westwood High School.

Sponsors for Bergen County Canstruction 2026 included Inserra Supermarkets, Glass Gardens ShopRite, and Market Basket. Additional support comes from The Sanzari Family Foundation, Orange & Rockland Utilities, Eastwick College, Hackensack Meridian Health, and Neglia Engineering.

Build night was Feb. 26. The structures were then open for an Art-Walk for visitors through late this week.

Awards were then presented for Best Design and Online Vote Winner.
