Bergen Football Star Could Be Drafted By The Dallas Cowboys

Jabrill Peppers was a Heisman Trophy finalist. He won four high school state group championships.

PARAMUS, N.J. — Jabrill Peppers could be drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in next month's draft, but it isn't a foregone conclusions yet.

Peppers won four state group championships while playing for Don Bosco Tech and Paramus Catholic before attending The University of Michigan where he has played outstanding at linebacker last year and on special teams as a punt returner. Peppers, a Heisman Trophy finalist, declared for the draft last month.

Peppers can also play safety, his natural position and the one the Cowboys would most likely play him at if they take him with the No. 28 pick, according to Bleacher Report.

It is Peppers' versatility on defense that could prove to be his most valuable commodity as it "presents value in a league where defensive sub-packages dominate, and a limited roster asks players to do more," the report said.

Peppers gave up 58 receptions with no interceptions and just six pass breakups when the primary defender during his college career, PFF College Football tweeted.

SB Nation Dan Kadar's mock draft prediction has Peppers going at No. 19 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"Peppers was miscast at Michigan last season," Kadar said. "His skill set should allow him to be a versatile safety who can eliminate mismatches an offense tries to create."

NFL.com wrote that Peppers, "is a better athlete than football player right now, but he has tremendous upside as a strong safety."

The NFL Draft is Thursday, April 27 through Saturday, April 29 in Philadelphia.
