DNA Links New York Man To 2007 Jewelry Heist
Police issued a warrant for the arrest of Jose Matias.

Police using DNA evidence have identified a suspect in a five-year-old burglary.
Jose Matias, 40, took part in a burglary at the Jewerly Exchange, now known as the , on Jan. 8, 2007, police said.
Police issued a warrant for his arrest charging him with three counts of burglary and one count of theft. Matias was one of the burglars who stole $79,915 in precious stones and jewels, police said.

At the time of the burglary, police found the rear glass door of the store was smashed. Detective John Damato collected a sample of Matias' blood left at the scene, police said.
Police sent the blood to the New Jersey State Police Lab for processing. The DNA returned a match for Matias in February, police said.

Police haven't been able to find Matias. His last known address was in Brooklyn, N.Y.
