Felicia Stoler, TV Host and Author, Comes to Paramus Thursday

The host of "Honey, We're Killing Our Kids" will speak about her new book "Living Skinny in Fat Genes."

Felicia Stoler, television personality and author, will be at Barnes and Noble Thursday at 7:30 p.m. to discuss her book “Living Skinny in Fat Genes.”

Stoler hosted the second season of the show “Honey, We’re Killing Our Kids” on TLC. The show discussed how parents overfeed their kids and ultimately lead them to obese and unhealthy futures.

Stoler, a mother and wife from Holmdel, says her book provides hard facts and science on weight loss. For the last 10 years, Stoler has worked as a private dietician and consultant.

Her philosophy it to make weightloss a “simple, realistic and attainable” concept.

“I am amazed how television talk shows will use non-qualified professionals to discuss health and nutrition,” she said. “If a show has a discussion about heart disease, they will use a real doctor.”

She said it was important for her to know the science and understand the concept of nutrition and exercise.

“Ultimately, we make our own decisions,” she said. “We need to take responsibility for our actions.”

Her book offers more tips on that subject. Stoler said she plans on discussing more at Barnes and Noble.

“I have patients all the time who tell me how much my working with them has helped,” Stoler said. “I had been a professor and I have students who have gone into the nutrition field and they have inspired others to healthier lives and it always makes me feel good to be a part of that.”
