Paramus Declares State Of Emergency After Damaging Thunderstorms

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — After two days of damaging thunderstorms, Paramus Mayor Chris DiPiazza declared a state of emergency on Sunday.

"I can promise residents that we have the best men and women working overtime to get our borough back to what we know and love," he said. "Most important, no injuries related to this storm have occurred."

But another threat is on the way.

Bergen County is under a flood watch until Tuesday at 6 a.m.

The National Weather Service says thunderstorms may arrive after 2 p.m. Monday, with an inch of rain falling during the day and another inch at night.

The northeasternmost counties, including Bergen County, face a high threat of flash floods, the NWS says.
