Driver Resuscitated After Crashing Into Car Full of Doctors, Cops Say

Wayne couple rear-ended, begin CPR on man who crashed into them, police report.

If you’re going to crash your vehicle after suffering a medical emergency, it may as well be into a car carrying two doctors.

That’s what happened to a New Providence man on Sunday afternoon near Rt. 46 in Parsippany, police said.

A 60-year-old driver suffered an unidentified medical condition while on Rt. 46 and rear-ended a vehicle waiting to merge onto the roadway near the Wendy’s fast food restaurant, police said. The vehicle that was hit just so happened to be occupied by Dhinoj Parikh and his wife, Minaxi Parikh, both doctors and residents of Wayne, police said.

When the couple exited their vehicle after the crash, they found the other driver unresponsive in his car, police said. At that point they called 911 and began CPR, police said.

Officer Ross Cooper responded to the scene and continued life-saving efforts along with Sgt. Luke Costigan and Officer Michael Sprung, who was off-duty and leaving Parsippany Police headquarters but heard the call on the radio, police said.

The unresponsive man was successfully resuscitated, police said, and efforts continued further when he was moved to Car 65 Ambulance with the help of Paramedic Unit 502, where he eventually became responsive, police said.

The man was then taken to St. Clare’s Hospital responsive and breathing.
