• Get creative with waste in ACUA recycled art contest (pressofatlanticcity.com) — Atlantic County residents, including those in Pleasantville, are invited to turn household trash and recyclables into art for ACUA's 12th Annual Recycled Art Contest, with entries accepted at the Pleasantville library branch October 1–31. Open to all ages, the contest offers cash prizes and a showcase during America Recycles Day at the ACUA Recycling Center in Egg Harbor Township.
   

• Nine people, dog rescued from South Jersey motels during nor'easter (thedailyjournal.com) — Pleasantville firefighters were among the first responders checking on guests at two flooded West Atlantic City motels during this weekend's nor'easter, where tidal waters reached up to three feet in first-floor rooms. Nine adults and a dog were ultimately rescued by Egg Harbor Township crews and taken to a warming center, with no injuries reported and replacement lodging arranged upstairs.
