Point Pleasant Digging Out After Blizzard Drops More Than 12 Inches Of Snow
Officials continue to urge people to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — Plowing and cleanup were continuing through the night Monday after a blizzard that dropped more than 12 inches of snow in Point Pleasant.
More than 1,000 homes and businesses remained without power Monday night in Point Pleasant, according to Jersey Central Power & Light. More than 11,000 customers were out across Ocean County.
The borough's schools are closed again Tuesday, the district announced.

Garbage and recycling collections that were scheduled for Monday will be collected on Tuesday, and with collections delayed one day for the remainder of the week, "just like a holiday schedule," borough officials said.

Point Pleasant police urged people to avoid driving to allow emergency and public works crews to operate efficiently.
"Road conditions remain hazardous. Crews are actively responding to deep and drifting snow, downed trees and downed and low-hanging power lines.
"Our Department of Public Works crews are working around the clock to clear roadways. This process takes time, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as they work through each neighborhood," police said.
