POINT PLEASANT, NJ — Bridge Avenue will be closed to through-traffic on Monday from Barton Avenue to Sunset Avenue for continuing work to repair a collapsed sewer line, Point Pleasant police said.

In an update Friday on the department's Facebook page, police said the nor'easter that pushed through the area forced the contractor making the repairs to suspend the work.

The road closure is anticipated to begin at 7 a.m., police said.

"This was an unexpected emergency sewer line repair that is being addressed as quickly as possible," the post said. Officials said the closure and detours leading up until now had been because the area had to be dewatered in preparation for the repair, which is expected to take one day.

Eastbound traffic will continue to be detoured south on Sunset Avenue and westbound traffic will be detoured north on Barton Avenue.
