Great American Trolley Company May Be Coming To Point Beach
Proposal still a "work in progress," mayor says.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH — Mayor Stephen Reid, several borough business owners and Chamber of Commerce President Carol Vaccaro took a test drive recently.
But they weren't in a car. They rode in a trolley car that belongs to the Great American Trolley Company, according to the Ocean Star.
“If you give me a good idea, I am going to run with it,” the mayor said. “If businesses are successful, then the town will be successful.”

The trolley seats 35 and would stop at restaurants, the downtown area and the boardwalk. The cost could be fronted by local businesses who would pay for stops to be included or by advertising.
This is not the first time a trolley was proposed for the downtown area. Frank Chiaia, who owns The White Sands, said he and other businesses tried the idea a few years ago. But they had problems with the state Department of Transportation and the permits required to run the trolley.

That wouldn't happen this time around, because the Great American Trolley would handle the permits, Chiaia said.
“I would love to see the town succeed with this,” he said
