At Least 7 Die In Heartbreaking Presidents' Day Weekend Incidents

A double murder and a 7-year-old's motel death were among many separate but heartbreaking fatal tragedies in NJ this weekend, police say.

A double murder and a 7-year-old's motel death – as well as at least two deadly shootings– were among a series of separate but heartbreaking fatal tragedies that took place in New Jersey during Presidents' Day weekend.

Police also identified a New Jersey man this weekend who died after a Valentine's Day confrontation with his ex-girlfriend, police said.

The victim, 24-year-old Donte Demunguia of Absecon, was transported to the Milford, Del. Hospital where he was pronounced dead after the Thursday shooting, police said. Read more here...

Son charged with murder after both parents found stabbed-to-death

The son of an Englewood husband and wife was charged with murder after his parents were found stabbed to death in their Lafayette Place home Saturday morning, acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced.

Pawel M. Boduch, 43, of Englewood was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Calo said in a news release. Read more here...

Girl, 7, dies at New Jersey motel where carbon monoxide was found, police say

Police say a 7-year-old girl died of cardiac arrest this weekend at a motel where carbon monoxide was detected.

The girl, who was not identified, suffered a cardiac arrest at the Friendship Motor Inn in Carney's Point Township on Friday evening, according to CBS3. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Read more here...

Fatality on I-280 in West Orange: car engulfed in flames: PD

A person died after their vehicle became engulfed in flames on I-280 early Sunday morning , West Orange town officials said.

West Orange police responded to a vehicle accident on I-280 east in the area of Pleasant Valley Way around 1 a.m to find the vehicle "unrecognizable" and fully engulfed in flames, authorities said Sunday. Read more here...

One killed in double shooting in Burlington County, prosecutor says

One man was killed and another injured in a double shooting early Monday morning in Willinboro, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina said.

The shooting happened on Millbrook Drive around 1 a.m., Coffina said, when the two were sitting inside a car. They were taken to separate area hospitals. Read more here...

One killed, 2 wounded in Newark, prosecutor says

Prosecutors say they are investigating a triple shooting that resulted in one death in Newark on Saturday.

At approximately 5 p.m., Angel Montanez,51, of Newark was fatally shot in the area of 1100 Broad Street, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

He was pronounced dead at 5:15 PM. Two other male victims were also shot. They were transported to University Hospital where they were last reported to be in stable condition, according to the ECPO.

The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Essex County Prosecutor's Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC.

Woman struck and killed as she tried to cross NJ highway

A 50-year-old woman was killed Saturday after she was hit by a car as she attempted to cross Route 129 in Trenton, police told nj.com.

Karen Beauchamps, 50, of Trenton, was crossing the highway at Lalor Street around 9:30 p.m. when she was struck by a car on the northbound side, according to nj.com.
