Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Train In Point Beach: Report

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office is leading the investigation, Point Pleasant Beach police said.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — Authorities are investigating after a person was fatally hit by an NJ Transit train in Point Pleasant Beach on Sunday afternoon, according to police and reports.

The pedestrian was a juvenile who did not survive, News 12 New Jersey reported. The report said the child was taken to a hospital after being hit at Forman Avenue. No further information about the child was available Sunday night.

NJ Transit said the train that hit the pedestrian was due into Bay Head at 4:36 p.m. Service into and out of Bay Head was halted Sunday evening.

Train crossings south of Arnold Avenue to Route 35 were closed for about three hours while authorities investigated at the Forman Avenue crossing, Point Pleasant Beach police said. They reopened about 7:30 p.m. after the on-site investigation was finished and the train was moved.
