Princeton University Named 5th Best College In U.S.: Forbes

Forbes' ranking names 650 schools, including 13 in New Jersey such as Princeton, that it says are the best in the country for 2019.

PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton University was ranked as the fifth best college in the U.S., according to Forbes Magazine's new list.

Forbes' ranking names 650 schools, including 13 in New Jersey, that it says are the best in the country for 2019.

Princeton came in under Harvard University, Stanford University, Yale University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The magazine says that whether a school ranks among the top 10 or is closer to the bottom, the institutions "count as the best in the country." Forbes' annual rankings looks at colleges that "deliver the top academics, career success and lowest debt."

The methodology behind the rankings looks at five categories: alumni salary, student satisfaction, debt, on-time graduation rate and academic success. (Read more about Forbes' methodology)
