Proposed Princeton Brewpub Decision To Take Another Month

The hearing will resume on Sept. 28, according to the Princeton Packet.

PRINCETON, NJ — A decision on a proposal to move Triumph Brewing Co. into the old post office building in Palmer Square remains up in the air.

The Princeton Planning Board will have to wait until at least Sept. 28 following a three-and-a-half hour meeting on the subject on Aug. 3, the Princeton Packet reports. The meeting included discussion of the “ample parking” in the area, the types of trucks that will be used to deliver food and the use of a directional sign that points to the Nassau Inn entrance.

Former Congressional candidate and Palmer Square resident Scott Sipprelle is opposing the project, citing concerns over parking, according to the Princeton Packet.

The meeting was the continuation of the July 13 meeting that was cut short by a power outage at Witherspoon Hall.

The Princeton Historic Preservation Commission previously approved the application from California-based LCOR Ventures to move the brewery into the old post office building at 20 East Palmer Square, according to Planet Princeton. Triumph Brewery is currently located at 138 Nassau Street.

The old post office was built in 1932. It is listed on the state and national registries of historic places. The post office has already moved from that site to a site on Nassau Street. Plans call for the replacement of the former loading docks in the back of the building with a glass entrance. The old lobby would become a dining room.
