A recent study evaluated the lowest-paying jobs in New Jersey. Here's what it found.

What are the lowest-paying jobs in New Jersey? A new analysis by career site Zippia reveals just that, with several careers in the food service industry taking the top spots, alongside cashiers, recreational workers and others.
Zippia, using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, recently compiled a list of the 100 lowest-paying jobs in the Garden State. The website used the Bureau of Labor Statistics data set for all 712 job classifications in New Jersey to identify the ones that pay the least.
Counter attendants at cafeterias and coffee shops get paid the least in New Jersey, making just $19,840 on average and $17,800 to start. Shampooers follow at $19,970 on average or $17,790 to start. (Full list below.)

On the flip side, the website's earlier analysis of the highest-paying jobs in New Jersey show that becoming an surgeon is the most lucrative career in the state. If you become a surgeon in New Jersey, you could make more than $270,000 on average.
