Kids and Health in Monmouth County

No child is too fragile for chiropractic adjustments. Read our article and hear the many benefits to pediatric adjustments.

No child is too young or fragile for chiropractic services at Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation. It is actually beneficial for even a newborn to receive a chiropractic adjustment. As you can see in the photos, Dr. Thomas Dandrea, D.C. giving baby Luca his first adjustment at about 16 weeks old!

Often time’s parents or caregivers may be apprehensive about their child or infant receiving an adjustment – however, pediatric adjustments are much gentler and include treatment that consists of a gentle massage-like technique which is called Cranial Therapy.

Infants respond very quickly in most instances and parents even say they saw changes after just one treatment.

Why is it important for children to have chiropractic adjustments?

The birth process is often the cause of your child’s first subluxation. A very soft and undeveloped spine of an infant can suffer trauma during delivery. Research shows that up to 80lbs of pulling pressure can be exerted to remove a baby from the birth canal.

As a child grows up and becomes more active, they learn to walk, jump, climb and with that often come falls, bumps and bruises- the number of injuries to their spine become countless.

The nervous system controls it all.

The nervous system is the leading force within our body – if it becomes weak it sends signals to and your body will begin to react.

In infants, this communication can be seen as issues such as colic or irritability, inability to breastfeed, poor sleep, developmental milestone delays, digestion issues, asthma, behavioral issues, low energy or even headaches.

Chiropractic care is not a cure for colic, nor is it a treatment for the specific condition. However, we find that by reducing the spinal stress, infants and children with a number of health issues have been helped through the removal of interference in the nervous system.
