​A fire has left one woman dead overnight in a New Jersey town, according to authorities.

A fire has left one woman dead overnight in a New Jersey town, according to authorities.

News12 reported that the blaze broke out at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night in a two-story home on Miller Avenue in Elmwood Park, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

Officials have not yet released the identity of any victims. We'll have more information as it becomes available.

Firefighters attacked the fire at close range, but the flames kept growing and the fire became too intense, CBS2’s Magdalena Doris reported.

Tony Ambrogio told CBS2 that the homeowner, his sister-in-law, heard smoke alarms and escaped her first floor apartment. “She ran over to here to our neighbor. By that time, the house was engulfed in flames,” he said.
