$4,900 In Jewelry Taken From Ridgewood Home, Police Say
A safe was reportedly taken from a Carlisle Terrace home, authorities say.

On Wednesday, September 16, 2015, a Village of Ridgewood employee reported that sometime overnight the lock on a storage shed located inside the leaf dump on Lakeview Drive had been damaged.
On Wednesday, September 16, 2015, a Bogert Avenue resident reported that a white men’s Schwinn bicycle had been taken from his/her property between 1:00 pm and 8:00 pm the previous day. The matter is under investigation by the detective bureau.

On Thursday, September 17, 2015, an employee at Whole Foods Market reported that on the morning of Tuesday September 15, 2015 a customer made two purchases passing counterfeit $100 dollar bills. It was determined that the bills were counterfeit after the merchandise purchased in Ridgewood was later returned for a cash refund at the Whole Foods Market in Paramus, New Jersey. The matter is under investigation by the detective bureau.
On Friday, September 18, 2015, a Glen Rock resident reported that his/her vehicle was forcibly entered while parked at the YMCA in Ridgewood. An unidentified actor smashed the cars window then removed the victim’s property from inside. Some of the property was later recovered by the Hillsdale New Jersey Police Department. The matter is under investigation by the detective bureau.

On Sunday, September 20, 2015, a Ridge Road resident reported that between February 13, 2013 and September 18, 2015 jewelry valued at $4,900 was taken from his/her home. The matter is under investigation by the detective bureau.
On Saturday, September 19, 2015, Patrolman Stephen Cummings arrested Arnella Migirov, 21, of Elmwood Park subsequent to a motor vehicle stop. Ms. Migirov, who provided Patrolman Cummings with a fictitious name, was charged with possession of marijuana, hindering apprehension, driving while suspended, failure to install an interlock device and possession of controlled dangerous substance in a vehicle. Ms. Migiroz, who had active warrants from another jurisdiction, had a friend post $1,500 for her bail and she was released pending a Ridgewood Municipal Court appearance. When it was discovered that Ms. Migirov’s friend, Jonathan Mortimer, 21, of Ridgewood had driven to police headquarters with a suspended license, he was issued a motor vehicle summons for driving while suspended. Mr. Mortimer was also charged with possession of marijuana and was released on his own recognizance pending a Ridgewood Municipal Court appearance. Shortly thereafter Mr. Mortimer was stopped operating another motor vehicle and issued a second summons for driving while suspended, which is also pending a Ridgewood Municipal Court appearance.
On Saturday, September 19, 2015, a Carlisle Terrace resident reported that sometime between September 5, 2015 and September 19, 2015 a safe was removed from his/her home. There were no signs of forced entry to the residence and the contents of the safe were left at the scene. The matter is being investigated by the detective bureau.
On Sunday, September 20, 2015, a Grove Street resident reported an incident of identity theft in which a fraudulent student loan was secured utilizing his/her personal information. The matter is under investigation by the detective bureau.
On Sunday, September 20, 2015 the police department received a citizen complaint of people smoking marijuana by a vehicle parked in the Maple Park parking lot. Patrolman Patrick Elwood responded and arrested Dimitry Cruz, 18, of Ridgewood at the scene. Mr. Cruz was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. He was released in his own recognizance pending a Ridgewood Municipal Court appearance.
All defendants are considered innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
